Manpower Recruitment are looking for a Sous Chef on a Full Time, Permanent basis located in Oxford, within an established restaurant setting, working between two restaurant settings close by. The role will be working 5/7 days and weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays will be required. The role is paying £38,000 per annum. Experience with fresh products is essential.

As Sous Chef, you are a vital part of our brigade and will support the Head Chef, spending your days serving delicious food in a well-equipped kitchen and developing your skills. We are looking for a professional Sous Chef to be the second in command in our kitchen, following our Executive Chef’s specifications and guidelines. The successful candidate will employ their culinary and managerial skills to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ satisfaction.

Sous Chef responsibilities include:

  • Helping in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
  • Producing high quality plates both design and taste wise
  • Ensuring that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • Filling in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Resourcefully solving any issues that arise and seizing control of any problematic situation
  • Managing and training kitchen staff, establishing working schedules and assessing staff’s performance
  • Ordering supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • Complying with and enforcing sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintaining a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers

Requirements and skills:

  • Experience as a Sous Chef or at a level to step up
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
  • Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
  • Familiarity with industry’s best practices
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
