A global leader in space and satellite systems—operating at the intersection of defence, earth observation, and next-gen SATCOM—is seeking a Senior Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to drive the design and delivery of high-resilience satellite networks and services.

You’ll work directly with commercial, defence, and space-sector clients to architect, design, and deliver integrated SATCOM systems—from initial concept to operational deployment. You’ll tackle complex RF and IP network challenges, lead real-world system deployments, and take full ownership of mission-critical comms infrastructure. Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and validate advanced SATCOM systems across space and ground segments
- Define system-level requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and integration strategies
- Perform RF link budget analysis, coverage modelling, and bandwidth planning for LEO/MEO/GEO systems
- Integrate IP networking and cybersecurity protocols into the SATCOM infrastructure
- Lead system integration, factory/site acceptance testing, and in-orbit testing phases
- Engage directly with customers to capture mission needs and translate them into engineered solutions
- Contribute to proposals, R&D, and technical strategy across the communications domain
Key Requirements:
- 5–10 years' experience in SATCOM or space systems engineering
- Deep understanding of end-to-end satellite communications architectures
- Expertise in RF systems, ground station infrastructure, payload design, and networking protocols (IP, TCP/UDP, VPNs)
- Strong systems engineering background (requirements, design, V&V, documentation)
- Familiarity with secure communications (COMSEC/INFOSEC) and defence-grade SATCOM systems
- Excellent communication skills and technical leadership experience
- Degree in Communications Engineering, Aerospace, or related field (BSc/MSc/PhD)

- Base Salary: Up to £85,000 (DoE)
