We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Safety Surveyor to join our team based at our Head Office in Coventry.

As a Building Safety Surveyor with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, you will be a key team member conducting comprehensive building safety surveys, inspections, and assessments across all locations within the ExtraCare portfolio to identify potential hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have previous proven experience within a similar role, be flexible, motivated and adaptable to change.

Location: Coventry (based at Head Office)
Job type: Permanent
Hours per week: 37.5 hours
Salary: £47,000 + £3,500 car allowance

You will:

  • Perform regular inspections of buildings, including fire safety systems, electrical systems, heating and ventilation systems, and structural components to ensure proper functioning and identify any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Where required, schedule and specify repairs and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Ensure the timely delivery/execution of all regulatory inspections and checks to include Regulation 7 and 10 of the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Oversee and ensure the timely execution of all works arising from risk assessments and regulatory checks.
  • Support the Head of Property and Environment in all Building Safety tasks and act as chair of the Building Safety Working Group and Fire Focus Group as required.
  • Be a permanent member of both groups.

About you:

  • Background in conducting building safety surveys, inspections, and assessments across various property types.
  • Experience managing a team and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
  • A track record of successfully managing complex projects, delegating tasks, and ensuring timely completion of work while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Experience in maintaining large property portfolios and developing and managing budgets for investment assets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate building safety issues, recommendations, and instructions to various stakeholders, including management, staff, and external contractors.
  • Able to deliver basic presentations to a mixed audience using PowerPoint.
