Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for a SHE Support Officer to be based at Rocksavage, Runcorn, UK.

Main Purpose

To provide health, safety and environmental support directly to operations and engineering colleagues who are largely engaged in managing risks at source. This is a “front facing” role requiring a hands-on approach with integration into wider teams and providing a SHE support service to managers, supervisors, operators and engineers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take part in risk assessments.
  • Support line management in supervision of contractor activities.
  • Advise 3rd parties on site safety standards.
  • Support line management ensuring Life Saving Rules compliance.
  • Advise on Safety Foundations.
  • Support line management in monitoring safety, health and environmental performance of the plant, investigation of incidents and driving safety improvements to ensure production operations conform to current and future legislation.
  • Regularly visiting plants and areas of engineering activity to discuss SHE requirements with stakeholders and to provide support to the risk management activities of colleagues.
  • Support other key stakeholders with the SHE monitoring and support of shutdowns and maintenance activities in ensuring that relevant safety standards are applied and followed.
  • Conduct day to day activities as directed by the line manager or any other member of the SHE Team as appropriate.
  • Attend SHE meetings and suggest SHE improvements.
  • Collaborate with SHE Team in the pursuance of SHE Goals and Objectives for the site.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • Chemical hazards training.
  • Risk Assessment Training.
  • Contractor Management Training.
  • Accident / Incident Investigation Training.

Knowledge/ Experience Required

  • COMAH Awareness would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of SHE risk management processes e.g., risk assessment and safe systems of work, contractor management, permit to work, emergency response.
  • Knowledge of the safe use, storage and transportation of chemicals including utilities (ideally those stored, handled, used and produced on site i.e. toxics and flammables).
  • Knowledge of IT systems (ideally those used on site and in role e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Knowledge of incident investigation and emergency response procedures.
  • Able to walk moderate distances around the site to access chemical plants.
