Are you an experienced Service Manager with knowledge of domestic violence support? Have you managed and coordinated a third/charity sector project? We are searching for a Refuge Manager (also known as a Project Manager) for 2 refuge services based in Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN INTERIM ROLE TO COVER FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 MONTHS - POSSIBLY LONGER.

What are the basics?

  • Salary of £28,116 (£15.75 per hour)
  • 3 month temporary contract (may go on for longer)
  • Work for an amazing charity that supports women and children
  • Make a real difference to victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse
  • Working hours are 9.30am to 5pm (these are the core hours)
  • 35 hours per week
  • Extra payments for on-call and out of hours work
  • On-call is usually 1 in every 8 or 10 weeks (subject to change)
  • 25 days annual leave entitlement + 8 bank holidays
  • Possible opportunities for ongoing and permanent employment

What will you do?

  • Oversee the service delivery of refuge accommodation in Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil for women and children fleeing domestic abuse
  • Direct line management of Support Workers and Support Assistants
  • Attend internal and external partnership/safety meetings (MAPPA, MARAC etc.)
  • Work with other charities, services and partners
  • Monitor service performance and outcomes
  • Create reports and communicate information to senior management
  • Deal with crisis situations and safeguarding issues
  • Assist with the on-call rota and cover shifts during sickness/absence
  • Attend out-of-hours during emergency situations

What do we need?

  • Someone with experience of managing a service in the housing/domestic violence sector
  • The ability to effectively manage difficult situations
  • Excellent knowledge of VAWDASV
  • An understanding of the effects of domestic abuse on women, children and families
  • Good knowledge of housing service management
  • Caring, compassionate, calm and non-judgemental
  • Committed to making a real difference to people's lives
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice, ACEs and PIE
  • YOU MUST BE A DRIVER WITH ACCESS TO A VEHICLE
  • WE NEED SOMEONE WITH A LIVE DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE (children and adult workforce - enhanced)
