Job Introduction: Due to the continuing growth of this very well established family business, we are recruiting on behalf of our client. An excellent basic salary is on offer with the opportunity to discuss a pay award following a successful probationary period of 6 months. Pay awards are then paid on an annual basis and are subject to a successful performance management review.
It is essential that you are a team player and can fit into the workshop team where you are willing to learn and share your knowledge and experience. Training will be through several organisations namely Bosch, Tech Topics and the Group Auto Group. The Business is currently looking at Hydrogen courses amongst others to keep up to date with technology. Private health care is offered to the successful candidate.
About you: Candidates will be considered from all backgrounds who have experience of working in the automotive sector as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, Motor Mechanic, Auto Electrician. Whether you work at an independent garage, fast fit centre, car supermarket or main dealer, we would be interested in talking to you. As a minimum, you will hold or be working towards completion of your NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. An Electric and Hybrid Vehicle qualification or certification would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided. Experience in using Ford IDS and GFDRS is desirable but not essential as training will be arranged. An MOT Licence would also be beneficial but not essential. A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
Role and Responsibilities: Technicians are responsible for the servicing, repair and diagnostics of all vehicles in the workshop, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standard. The role is very varied due to the extensive vehicle range we cover. The main responsibilities would include electrical and mechanical repairs, including timing belts/chains, suspension, steering, brakes, wheel bearings, clutches, driveshafts, exhausts and air conditioning servicing of both gases. The Company also carries out considerable diagnostic work on petrol and diesel vehicles. Additional responsibilities may include repairs and maintenance on EV and Hybrid vehicles such as the use of electronic diagnostic equipment, focusing on areas such as batteries, drive motor, auxiliary drive pack and control systems. You will be required to complete all service paperwork to manufacturer and brand standards and complete daily job sheets to enable the accurate invoicing of individual jobs. Going forward this will all be on a Tablet. You will have a full understanding of Customer Satisfaction and its impact on the business. You will be required to attend training to upskill on a regular basis and to keep up to date with developing systems.
Travel to work from: Newport, Cwmbran, Newbridge, Risca, Blackwood, Pontypool, Caerphilly, Abertillery.
