Position Overview: VCAD is looking to appoint five Support Officers – Teaching & Learning Technologies to provide technology-focused support and development across our two London campuses located at Canary Wharf and Borough. The postholders will form a small team dedicated to providing high-quality, technology-focused support and guidance to our students and staff. The post-holders will be expected to possess a strong knowledge and understanding of business, management and learning technologies, as well as associated software and platforms. Where a post-holder has a gap in their relevant knowledge or understanding, they will exhibit a keen willingness to learn and develop their skills. The Teaching & Learning Technologies Team will help ensure that VCAD delivers an efficient teaching and learning environment in which students and staff feel confident, enabled and supported.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, maintain and enhance VCAD’s teaching and learning technologies and the administrative focused programmes, hardware and platforms utilised by VCAD staff to manage and deliver VCAD’s operations and services such as Microsoft 365, Moodle, UnitE, various online Library systems, Adobe, etc.
- Assist staff and students in maximising the use of these platforms. Offer login support and technical help for both personal and university devices, along with guidance on institutional computers and software.
- Conduct weekly system checks across VCAD Computer Labs, Classrooms and Studios to ensure consistent functionality and readiness.
- Efficiently troubleshoot technology and wi-fi connectivity issues for staff and students.
- Install and set up monitors, desktop PCs, docking stations and other hardware in shared or private office spaces.
- Provide general technical support for campus equipment, including projectors, touchscreens, digital kiosks, printers, and other AV or IT hardware.
- Maintain strong communication with other departments across the company to oversee system access, technology infrastructure, hardware maintenance, and workflow efficiency.
- Develop and deliver training events and materials, both tangible and online, for other VCAD staff and our students in respect of maximising their utilisation of VCAD technology, hardware and software programmes.
- As required, the postholders will work collaboratively with academic, registry and student support departments to facilitate and deliver accurate data inputting, management and reporting.
- The postholders will at all times show flexibility, willingness and professionalism as well as a collegiate approach to collaboration and engagement with these and other duties as may be reasonably requested by senior colleagues.
Requirements:
- Evidence of broad IT and technology skills and knowledge.
- Professional level competence with Microsoft Office 365.
- Willingness and availability to work evenings and / or weekends as reasonably requested by senior colleagues.
- Evidence of high-quality communication and organisational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with and knowledge of technology associated with the Higher Education environment.
- An understanding of challenges faced by students in contemporary higher education.
