A Major Tier 1 Supplier in the Automotive sector are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the team at their site in the Burton upon Trent area. The ideal candidate will be a flexible and versatile Engineer with a strong technical background within the Automotive sector. Operating in a fast-paced Tier 1 environment and reporting into the Senior Quality Engineer, you will be able to liaise with customers, utilise core Quality tools, conduct internal audits and more. This is a fantastic opportunity with a global company who supply to some of the biggest clients in the industry.

The key responsibilities of the Quality Engineer role will be:

  • Develop and maintain control plans for components and final products
  • Conduct Capability Studies and Process Audits
  • Analyse customer returns, concerns, and defects
  • Utilize key quality tools (PPS, A3, Ishikawa, Is/Is Not, MiniTab, 5Why)
  • Continuously improve Operator Description Sheets (ODS)
  • Lead problem-solving teams for root cause analysis on plant and customer issues
  • Understand and manage supplier requirements for PPAP
  • Be available for short-notice travel when required
  • Prepare and oversee quality documentation (Quality Alerts, PFUs, etc.)

The key requirements of the Quality Engineer will be:

  • Manufacturing Quality System Experience & strong customer communication skills
  • Problem-Solving Expertise – skilled in tools and techniques for root cause analysis
  • Strong Communication & Presentation Skills – ability to engage all levels of the business
  • Self-Motivated & Proactive – capable of working independently and eager to learn
  • Automotive industry experience is preferred but not essential
  • HNC Qualification is preferred but not essential
