Hello, I am Dr Ian Watkiss, the lead for the Derbyshire Autism Service.
We are hoping that you will join The Division of Psychology & Psychological Therapies in DHCFT. We have an exciting full time post for a registered (or soon to be qualified) Clinical Psychologist to work with people within the Specialist Autism Team.
This role is truly life changing for the people we support, and we regularly receive compliments from people who were really struggling when they were referred to us. I personally find the role very rewarding, as do the rest of the psychologists in the team.

The post includes assessment and interventions as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary service, supervision and training, service development and research.
The team is passionate about their work, embracing psychological understandings from a person-centred perspective, from a variety of models and approaches. This post will contribute as part of a wider psychological support structure across the ANS and DP&PT within the Trust.
We will consider applications for either:
o Band 8a or Band 7/8a (development post)
o from a registered (or soon to be HCPC registered) Clinical Psychologist
o full-time – 1.0 WTE, substantive post (37.5 hours/week)
Main duties of the job
This post is within the Specialist Autism Assessment Team who have autism, and are part of the Adult Neurodevelopment Service.
The role involves working alongside a range of experienced psychologists within the Division of Psychology & Psychological Therapies, whilst embedded within the MDT structures of the Adult Neurodevelopmental Service.
The successful candidate will provide therapy and intervention from a psychological model of care. The role involves providing consultation, advice, specialist therapeutic input and research/service evaluation into the service and support to other psychologists, trainees, and assistants to provide the best service possible.
You will be contributing to the development and delivery of a new service to meet the needs of those with autism within Derbyshire. You will play a key role in the continued development of the service, working closely with community services, multi-agencies, third sector and other key stakeholders, to support individuals who are in crisis or require an intensive community response; ultimately aiming to maintain the adults with autism within their own home setting.
You will work alongside our expert and well-established ASD assessment team to make sure that client needs are met.
