Our client has a brand-new staff opportunity for a Materials Category Lead / Procurement. This position is for the new import-export terminal in Grangemouth. The position is only open to UK citizens.
Purpose: To source, tender, negotiate, place contracts and orders for the procurement of materials and services across the terminal. Achieving best value and risk on each outcome. Contracts will vary in discipline and value ranging from £50K to £500K.
Experience required:
- Determine the style of contract that will best deliver the best overall value and delivery outcome for the business.
- Verify requirement and scope specification eliminating unnecessary costs expenditure.
- Conduct robust and timely tenders.
- Ensure that all purchase orders and contracts are placed in accordance with defined business processes with competent and approved supply chain.
- Take ownership of order delivery process and expedite as appropriate.
- Establish an understanding of the supply market including main suppliers and/or contractors.
- Assess business risk/opportunity with supply chain.
- Provide expert advice on supplier risks, including in-depth market knowledge both commercial and technical.
- Use influence to encourage procurement change/engagement.
- Set out contracts that are fully compliant to support business needs that are legally binding, that mitigate any and all commercial risk and drive appropriate supplier performance.
- Identify new competent accredited suppliers that are appropriate for a terminal.
- Maintain an approved supplier database.
- Setup price agreements, framework and/or term contracts.
- Implement strategies to reduce transactions and cycle time.
- Deliver savings for terminal.
- Tendering and negotiation flexibility without compromising governance.
Required:
- Degree qualified or equivalent chartered membership in a related procurement (MCIPS) or Quantity Surveying discipline.
- Previous purchasing experience in a large complex construction/manufacturing environment and can demonstrate through track record delivery of cost savings and value engineering.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Demonstrate good financial understanding of the cost drivers on contracts in order to demonstrate transparency and overall value.
- Able to plan and prioritise workload to support terminal needs.
- Ability to draft contracts that are fully compliant to support the business needs.
