We are seeking a Youth Engagement Worker to join the STEP (Support to Engage and Prevent) Service, working at the heart of our community to support young people and their families through proactive, targeted interventions.

About the Role

As a Youth Engagement Worker, you will play a vital part in:

  • Assessing and planning tailored interventions for children at risk of offending.
  • Working directly with young people and their families, delivering one-to-one and group sessions that promote positive behaviours and prevent criminal activity.
  • Engaging with partners across the statutory and voluntary sectors to deliver a joined-up approach to youth support and crime prevention.

This role is a key frontline position that combines community-based work, relationship-building, and safeguarding with meaningful, hands-on support to young people navigating challenging circumstances.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct assessments and manage a personal caseload of young people and families.
  • Deliver strength-based, restorative interventions focused on desistance and resilience.
  • Work flexibly across a variety of settings – from schools and homes to community venues.
  • Develop and deliver prevention programmes in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Promote the voice and participation of young people and their families throughout service delivery.
  • Contribute to wider community efforts to tackle perceptions of anti-social behaviour.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in youth work, early help, social care, or a related field.
  • Is confident conducting assessments and delivering structured interventions.
  • Understands safeguarding and risk management in a youth support context.
  • Can build rapport quickly and work inclusively with diverse individuals and families.
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and passionate about making a real difference.

Evening and weekend work may be required on occasion to meet the needs of the young people we support.
