TXM are recruiting for a Rolling Stock Reliability Engineer on a permanent basis based in Derbyshire to support our rolling stock customer. Some travel to customer sites will be required therefore a full valid UK driving license will be required.

Job responsibilities:
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise for all aspects of Reliability Engineering related to our customers' Rolling Stock projects including Electrical multiple units / Diesel multiple units. This includes the creation, maintenance and management of fleet specific reliability growth plans, analysis of reliability data, and the identification of actions to ensure our technical and contractual performance targets for fleets are achieved.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive technical reliability analysis and associated reporting, instrumental to ensuring data is driven to identify patterns and trends within the field of expertise.
- Increase overall uptime and availability of products and systems, to reduce the number of failures and downtime contributing to detrimental impacts to our customers.
- Provide report summaries of incidents counts, and analysis of data used for reliability and quality metrics to improve performance of product.
- Drive development and implementation of fleet/system reliability growth plans to meet technical and contractual targets on fleet performance.
- Key individual to develop and implement FRACAS/WIM Processes and Procedures to ensure correct identification of root cause.
- Key stakeholder in delivering technical/reliability review meetings.
- Implement fleet specific Reliability and Product Improvement Plans, ensuring it is harmonised with all departments and is compliant with Quality/ISO certifications and audits inclusive of RX creation and distribution.
- Working closely with the wider engineering team to correctly prioritise FRACAS/WIM items in accordance with their criticality.
- Ensure trending reliability concerns are raised as applicable for FRACAS/WIM process to be tracked and included on reliability growth plan.
- Support Through-Life-Care model within the Group to enhance reliability and performance through our relevant products.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required.
- Key stakeholder to ensure developing and implementing relevant fault-finding guides, working instructions and all relevant associated documents to ensure standardisation across the Group.
Quality & Health & Safety:
- Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and other policies and procedures.
- Encourage & participate in Health & Safety management processes whilst visiting customer sites and our locations.
- Reviewing data trends and analysis to implement relevant safety cases within product improvements to ensure NIR’s are prevented.
- Improving quality across various products by reviewing VMI’s / FMI’s and relevant maintenance procedures to optimise performance for both end user and our customer.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential customers in such a manner as to maintain the reputation of the company as a world class supplier of railway vehicle services.
- Show impact to customer uptime & availability to ensure profit is driven throughout the industry by utilising the Through-Life-Care Model.
- Continue to understand market trends in relation to processes and procedures that may impact product reliability.
- Excellent at problem solving & ability to explain technical concepts to core customers and collaborate effectively with others.
- Ability to manage multiple products and key deliverables and multiple tasks effectively including planning, organising and scheduling.
Customer and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify methods of improvement within the area of responsibility.
- Link to the Group to deploy improvement initiatives (WMS, new technologies, etc.).
- Provide technical insight into evolving complex outside sources that can develop relevant models by reviewing new procedures for testing or monitoring equipment, (I.E KinetiXs’ technology).
Education and Qualifications:
- Engineering qualification HNC / HND / Degree or relevant experience / knowledge within the industry with relevant qualification.
- Desirable qualifications: Business/Management/Finance. PRINCE2 or APM qualified.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Understand how to interpret data and build reliability growth plans.
- Previous experience and a proven track record of successful Fleet / technical engineering / reliability in the rail industry on modern passenger fleets.
- Sound understanding of modern train systems, FRACAS, Cost Benefit Analysis, FTA methodologies, and concepts for compliance with safety and reliability requirements.
- Previous experience in reliability growth models.
- The ability to provide technical guidance within a matrix organisation structure.
- Business acumen and commercially/legally aware.
- Experience of dealing directly with customers and suppliers.
- Passion and drive to deliver, “must do” attitude.
- Flexible and forward thinking, able to operate effectively in a project fleet introduction environment.
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues effectively both orally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound IT skills (particularly Excel).
