The mission of the Global Strategy & Capabilities (GS&C) group within Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) is to be essential to merchants and partners globally by delivering an easy, frictionless, value-added experience that enables them to meet their goals and serve their customers. GS&C consists of a diverse set of teams that support the GMNS business.
The Global Network Policy team within GS&C develops business policy/rules which govern American Express products and capabilities to protect the brand and ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. The team works across almost every American Express business unit, monitors relevant industry trends and the competitive landscape in alignment with market needs, to develop insights on credit/debit products and inform the Network policy roadmap.
Reporting to Director – Global Network Policy, this role is an exciting opportunity for a talented manager to drive a vision that continues to evolve network policy.
How you will make an impact in this role?
- Complete the policy development lifecycle by leading policy projects, including vetting business case, proposal formulation, partner management, issue analysis, working group facilitation, and presentation to leadership & governance committees.
- Program management, including creating and owning the program plan, monitoring progress, and reporting results, and developing and completing internal communication actions.
- Identify and drive process improvements that will benefit Network Policy, Blue Box customers, and partners across the globe.
- Leading ad hoc requests for presentation materials for various meetings supported by the team.
- Building relationships with partners, senior leaders, and governance committee members to drive efficiencies and facilitate an effective governance process.
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to dive into detail, but also outline complex problems, tailoring in simplistic ways, depending on audience.
- Challenge the status quo and conceptualize opportunities to improve established processes.
- Industry landscape and competitive analysis.
Qualifications:
- Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities at once.
- Ability to host meetings, create agendas, maintain clear meeting notes, follow up to ensure others complete their assigned actions.
- Strong communication skills with ability to mediate and influence without authority, strong experience crafting presentations to clearly communicate sophisticated concepts, at all levels, in verbal and written form.
- Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to spot problems before they arise, find solutions, and provide timely follow-through.
- Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the big picture.
- Is a highly motivated, self-starter with a high level of personal accountability able to balance multiple priorities with various levels of importance.
