Your new role
To support the City of London\βs library collections across Guildhall Library, the Lending Libraries (in particular the Barbican Music Library) and The London Archives by undertaking the cataloguing and classification of library resources, print, multimedia and digital, to ensure these are accessible to all our users.
Key Accountabilities
Under the direction of the Senior Librarian (Rare Books), lead on the development and maintenance of cataloguing and classification standards for the City of London and authority file management, keeping up to date with developments in classification, cataloguing and authority control, and cascading information and training to colleagues.
The original cataloguing and classification of library materials
Editing records using AACR2, RDA, Dewey Decimal System and other in-house classification systems.
Providing regular reports on progress against targets, taking remedial action to correct any poor performance; gathering relevant usage statistics and producing reports as required.
To share cataloguing knowledge and train and support staff, volunteers and users in cataloguing matters as required
Responsibility for compiling and maintaining the subject indexes for the Lending and Reference Libraries.

Be registered with the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP)
Having worked in a library/museum
Experience engaging with the public
Experience cataloguing onto online systems
