A market leading, multi disciplined contractor within the local authority repairs, maintenance, roofing and fire protection market is currently searching for an experienced Divisional Manager / Operations Manager to deal with passive fire protection contracts throughout the North/ North East region, overseeing all operational processes throughout the division's ongoing expansion.

This opportunity would suit someone with a strong commercial and operational acumen. The Divisional / Operations Manager has responsibility for the success of contracts, including caring and supporting their team, managing commercial aspects of contracts and maintaining existing client relationships, whilst ensuring the overall financial and operational success of the division. It’s a role requiring organization, balance and investment.

This position would report into board level and has a clear path to a more senior Directorship role within the company’s operations team in their growing fire protection division.

The company has been operating for over 30 years with a group turnover of £20Mill+, working across the Yorkshire and North East areas predominantly. Their continual success and ability to gain repeat business has ensured sustained growth since their inception. Due to significant investment in operational capacity and gaining several high profile contracts for flagship clients, the passive fire protection division is an area for largest sustained growth for them.

They work across various markets including Local authority, Student Accommodation, Education, Hospital, Care Homes and MOD sectors, amongst other related areas.

Fire Protection contracts included: Compartmentation, Service Penetrations, Fire and Cavity Barriers, Structural Steel, Fire Door Installation, amongst other related areas.

About the role:

  • As a senior manager of the unit, you take responsibility for contracts from start to completion.
  • Involved with reporting monthly, quarterly and yearly reviews, collaborating with Directors and the commercial team.
  • Maintain key client relationships and lead by example to deliver a high-quality service, and secure extended business as well as new business.
  • Lead and work with your operational team to drive high levels of productivity and ensure that work is delivered to a high quality.
  • Aware of the targets and expectations on each contract your business is responsible for, you ensure your business is always delivering in terms of safety and quality.
  • Developing and nurturing a project management team.

About the candidate:

  • Significant senior leadership/management experience in a similar role for fire protection.
  • Relevant industry qualifications.
  • Technical knowledge of passive fire protection and related works on site.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage, motivate and influence workforce behaviours.
  • Contributing to business plans and profit and loss reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience of being competent to influence in both commercial and operational aspects of a business.
  • Experience of managing client and contract KPIs to a consistently high level.
  • Sound knowledge of current HSE legislation and experience of ensuring onsite compliance.
