Workplace description: Nestled in the heart of the Borrowdale valley and overlooking Lake Derwentwater, this majestic Lakeland slate-built hotel has had a commanding presence in the area for over 200 years. Standing in 40 acres of grounds, this hotel has one of the finest settings in the Lake District, with access to some of the most impressive walks in the area from the front door.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist the General Manager and Heads of Department in the smooth running of the property.
  • Promote a prompt, professional appearance to clients and customers.
  • Lead the hotel and other teams through effective communication incorporating staff training, development, and arbitration.
  • Run the hotel in the General Manager's absence, ensuring high standards are maintained and legal obligations are met.

Essential criteria:

  • Proactive with a commercial approach to business, capable of driving sales and marketing strategy.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a F&B Manager or Deputy General Manager in the 3/4 star hotel sector.
  • Excellent motivator and leader of people, with a good track record of team management.
  • Desire and potential to become a General Manager in the future.
  • Self-starter with the capacity to operate with little supervision and lead in a fast-paced environment.
