Avondale Foods is a leading food manufacturing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Dunnes, Morrisons, Aldi & Lidl throughout the UK & Ireland.

Responsible SME (Subject Matter Expert) to ensure compliance of the metal detectors, check-weighers and Automated Date Coding System (Auto-coding). The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the flexibility to accommodate occasional out of hours requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage compliance to customer codes of practice, BRC and legislation regarding weight compliance, metal detection compliance and Automated Date Coding System (Auto-coding).
  • Complete daily tasks for weight, metal & auto-coding compliance.
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly process reports.
  • Oversee completion of protocols for new product launches.
  • Communicate accurately with management, suppliers and customers in verbal and written formats.
  • Complete investigations and preventative corrective actions.
  • Calibrate metal detectors, checkweighers, scales and auto-coding.
  • Lead customer visits and audits with regards to metal detection and check weighing.
  • Manage training within the production team to ensure compliance (mentor & coach).
  • Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration do the right thing approach in all interactions.
  • Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.
Essential Criteria
  • HACCP Level 2
  • Minimum 2 years experience within food manufacturing
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • Knowledge of metal detection and check weighing equipment
  • Qualification in Internal Auditing Level 2
  • Experience of working to deadlines
  • Ability to engage and communicate with staff at all levels within the business
Desirable Criteria
  • HACCP Level 3
  • Degree in Food Science or related subject
  • Food Safety Level 3
  • Knowledge of auto-coding
  • Third party audit experience
  • Knowledge of retailers standards and Codes of Practice (M&S, Waitrose, Morrisons)
