Pentagon Talent are currently working with a well-regarded law firm who are looking to appoint an experienced Legal Cashier on a part-time, office-based basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and friendly accounts team, working closely with a full-time cashier to ensure the smooth running of the firm's financial operations. This role is office based for the 2/3 days a week you will be working. This firm's offices are based in Aylesbury.

Key responsibilities for the Legal Cashier role include:

  • Daily reconciliation of client and office bank accounts
  • Managing incoming funds and ensuring accurate, timely allocation
  • Processing payments out of the firm's accounts (electronic and cheque) in line with SRA guidelines
  • Preparing and reviewing legal bills
  • Handling client balances and ensuring funds are dealt with promptly post-completion
  • Transferring costs and disbursements between accounts
  • Taking card payments by phone
  • Liaising with fee earners and support staff to resolve financial queries
  • Logging and processing incoming cheques
  • Supporting monthly financial reporting (including P&L)
  • Providing holiday/sickness cover within the wider accounts team as required

The ideal Legal Cashier will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar legal finance or accounts role
  • A strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Solid understanding of client and office account processes
  • Great attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems (Liberate or LEAP desirable)
