How Specialist Talent Works: At Peregrine, we find the best talent for our clients. As a permanent employee of Peregrine, with access to all our standard benefits, you will be deployed across our portfolio of clients as a specialist consultant, working on a wide array of complex projects across multiple industries.
The Role: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Lead to spearhead large-scale engineering transformations for a key client in the insurance and financial services sector. The successful candidate will act as the primary interface between the consultancy and the client’s Head of Engineering, ensuring strategic objectives are met while leading multi-disciplinary teams across Digital, Data, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering.
The role requires a proven leader who can drive engineering excellence, reduce technical debt, and streamline delivery processes. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of 300+ engineers, supported by three Chief Engineers, each leading specialized teams.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Transformation: Lead the engineering transformation strategy, working closely with the client’s Head of Engineering and consulting leadership. Implement incremental transformation strategies rather than a big bang approach, ensuring steady improvement in capabilities, culture, and technical health. Prioritize and execute technology roadmaps, focusing on reducing time-to-market and optimizing delivery pipelines. Own and drive the engineering delivery governance framework, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Champion engineering best practices, promoting CI/CD, DevOps, and modern cloud-native architectures.
- Technical Excellence & Delivery Oversight: Provide technical oversight across data pipelines, digital platforms, DevOps practices, and cloud migrations. Assess and mitigate technical debt, ensuring a balance between quick wins and long-term stability. Oversee the refactoring and modernization of legacy applications, ensuring observability, performance, and security. Collaborate with Chief Engineers and engineering teams to define best practices for ETL, data integration, and cloud adoption. Ensure engineering maturity measurement through relevant KPIs such as code quality, deployment frequency, incident resolution time, and PR review rates.
- People & Stakeholder Management: Act as a trusted advisor to the client’s leadership, bridging the gap between business and technology. Drive cultural change within engineering teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Foster a collaborative environment across engineering, product management, and business teams. Mentor and guide Chief Engineers and their respective teams to enhance delivery efficiency. Balance engineering priorities between business needs and developer experience, ensuring an optimal work environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Technical Leadership – Proven track record of leading large-scale engineering transformations.
- Cloud & Data Expertise – Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, ETL pipelines, and scalable data architectures.

- Strategic Thinking – Ability to drive long-term engineering strategy while delivering incremental value.
- Technical Debt Management – Experience identifying and remediating inefficient architectures.
- Observability & Performance Optimization – Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, New Relic).
- Stakeholder Management – Ability to engage with senior leadership, product managers, and engineering teams.
- Metrics-Driven Decision Making – Familiarity with engineering efficiency KPIs and tools like Pluralsight Flow.
- AI & Automation – Knowledge of AI-assisted engineering processes, such as Copilot and ML-driven data ingestion.
