PROTOTYPE BUILD & INSTRUMENT FITTER TECHNICIAN Position – Prototype Build & Instrument Fitter Technician Duration: TEMORARY CONTRACT – 12 WEEKS/3 MONTHS Location – Willenhall, West Midlands Salary – dependent on experience (£16-17 per hour) The Background and Role An innovative organisation in a specialist defence related industry is looking for a Prototype Build /Instrument Fitter Technician to join their team on an initial 12 week/3 month contract to work on some of the most innovative designs within the defence industry. The candidate must be a UK national and will need to pass security vetting upon employment. The Person The successful candidate will be a highly skilled professional, time-served in a Mechanical Build/Fitter Environment to safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. You must be able to work with great concentration and precision, with a keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude. The goal is to produce high quality parts and materials. Primary Job Function; Use key skills in the development, manufacture, testing and support of the Company’s projects and development demands in a quick and efficient manner to ensure our customers’ tight timescales are met. Key Skills; * Proven experience as Mechanical Assembler/Fitter * Skill in operating various machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools * Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings and interpreting project blueprints, to produce the desired product * Mechanical aptitude and good math skills, with a keen eye for detail and results-driven approach * Good communication abilities * Ability to work as part of a small specialised team.. Responsibilities; * Mechanical assembly and build tasks including Component assembly & Sub-assemblies – building parts and components from scratch. * Prepare and plan how to build and fit individual parts from drawings supplied, * Diagnosis and support logging of build issues and engineering improvements * Reading and interpreting engineer drawings * Use of a variety of machinery and handheld tools * Working with precision components. Experience: Preferably 5+ years in an engineering environment with the ability to build the equivalent of small intricate gear boxes Education/Qualifications Required – Candidate should be Apprenticeship Trained or Ideally qualified NVQ Level 3/4 or ONC in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical aptitude and good math skills preferable
