Project values typically range from £50,000 to £5 million, and due to consistent growth and a strong order book, they are now looking to expand their estimating team with the addition of a skilled Mechanical Estimator.
The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to take ownership of mechanical tenders and contribute to high-value, fast-paced projects. Working alongside a knowledgeable team, you will play a crucial role in delivering competitive, accurate, and timely bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate tenders for mechanical projects ranging from £50k to £5m
- Analyse mechanical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to determine scope
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and the pre-construction team to gather necessary inputs
- Assess and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure best value
- Maintain and develop a robust cost database and track historical tender data
- Support the production of compelling bid proposals and client presentations
Desirable experience and skills:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E or Building Services sector
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, public health, etc.)
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimation software
- Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
