Mechanical Fitter required in Runcorn - £18.00 per hour. Our client is looking for a Mechanical Fitter/Precision Engineer to join their engineering team at their site in Runcorn. The position involves assembling bespoke engineering products for the Automotive Industry. You would occasionally be asked to go to customer sites across the north west, mainly car plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Go to car factories to discuss, design and measure up for assembly jigs - then make them
  • Work on our manual and CNC millers and lathes to make parts for tooling jigs/fixtures/machines that we have designed
  • Assemble and commission tooling and machinery at our workshop then go to site to install

Typically, the workload variation is as follows:

  • 60% assembly of tooling
  • 25% precision machining
  • 15% on-site/jig making

Experience and qualifications/knowledge/skills

  • Have the ability to produce steel, aluminium and plastic parts using manual and CNC millers and lathes. You MUST have experience in this.
  • Understand machinery and have experience in assembling and modifying machines
  • Hold engineering-related qualifications and have an understanding of basic engineering principles
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • An understanding of tooling fixtures and machinery/equipment used for car/vehicle production would be beneficial and experience working in the automotive industry is preferred.

For the interview, you should bring:

  • Your toolbox (or at least some pictures of it)
  • Some pictures of recent work (if possible)
  • Boots and overalls - you may be required to complete a practical assessment in our workshop

Self-employed contractors are welcome to apply. Hours of work Monday to Friday working 8am until 4.30pm. Due to the nature of the work you may be required to work outside these hours. The rate of pay is £18.00 per hour. This is a Temporary to Permanent position.
