A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BREAKFAST COMMIS CHEF AT THE WESTIN LONDON CITY HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

  • Reporting to the Sous Chef, you can expect your working day to include the following:
  • Set the standards with regards to preparation and presentation of the breakfast food offering.
  • Engaging and communicating with guests regarding the breakfast offering.
  • Manage your breakfast service and ensure agreed standards are achieved.
  • To carry out any other reasonable task requested by a member of the management team, to enable the business to run efficiently and smoothly.
  • To assist other sections of the kitchen in the production and service of food or the cleaning down of the section as and when required due to the workload.
  • To maintain constant quality control of all food prepared and cooked ensuring it is to the Head Chef's and Restaurant standards.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Understand and adhere to the company's rules and regulations on all policies and procedures such as fire, hygiene, health & safety and licensing regulations.
  • Ensure a safe working environment identifying potential hazards and taking corrective action.
  • To be flexible in your approach, and able to assist the Sous Chef and any other members of the kitchen brigade when required.
  • A team player who thrives in the hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen department.
  • Someone who is passionate about food and willing to learn.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, at commis level.
  • An understanding of quality control and kitchen standards.
  • Experience in a similar role in a 5 star hotel or a desire to learn.
