We are seeking a dedicated MASH Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team on a 3-6 month contract. This is a vital role within our service, playing a key part in assessing and responding to concerns about children's welfare.
This is a primarily office-based role, requiring 3 days a week in our Carlisle office. The contract will run for an initial 3 months with potential for extension up to 6 months.
What you'll be doing - Key Responsibilities:
- Information Gathering and Assessment: Receive and respond to referrals concerning children's welfare, gathering information from a range of sources (schools, health professionals, police, etc.). Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine the level of need and urgency of intervention. Utilize your professional judgement and knowledge of safeguarding legislation to make informed decisions about next steps.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with professionals from various agencies within the MASH, including police, health, education, and housing, to share information, coordinate responses, and develop safety plans. Participate in strategy meetings and case conferences to ensure a joined-up approach to safeguarding.
- Decision Making & Case Allocation: Determine appropriate thresholds for intervention, referring cases to Children's Social Care or other agencies based on assessed need. Where appropriate, allocate cases to social work teams, ensuring a smooth transition and clear communication of key information.
- Record Keeping & Information Management: Maintain accurate and confidential records of all referrals, assessments, decisions, and actions taken. Utilise relevant databases and case management systems to ensure efficient information sharing and case tracking.
Who we're looking for:
- Qualified Social Worker: You hold a recognised social work qualification and are registered with Social Work England.
- MASH Experience: You have proven experience working within a MASH or similar multi-agency safeguarding environment.
- Assessment Skills: You are adept at gathering information, conducting risk assessments, and making sound judgements about child protection concerns.
