My client are looking for a paralegal for a 12 month contract extendable by a year for the right person. Working in industry, my client's in-house legal team focuses on providing innovative IP-based services to a sophisticated customer base of multinational businesses. The Legal Department’s goal is to be a strategic partner to the business by providing high quality legal advice and counsel. They work in close partnership by ensuring a thorough understanding of our client’s objectives and issues, allowing us to provide sound legal advice and solutions.
As the legal support function for the business, they are looking for a paralegal with a strong interest in the law and the technology/telecommunications sector, to take up an essential position based in London providing support to a small team of 4 lawyers in the legal support function.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the lawyers for the company (based in London, New York and Hong Kong) and interacting with the group’s lawyers, paralegals and other legal personnel across the globe, as well as with Outside Counsel.
- Researching and assisting with legal queries concerning a range of topics, including commercial contracts, privacy, telecoms regulatory and employment.
- Collating research findings in accessible format (e.g. spreadsheets).
- Reviewing and providing feedback on non-disclosure agreements, codes of conduct and other contractual documents.
- Assisting the creation of entity-related documentation, e.g. board resolutions, minutes, Powers of Attorney.
- Tracking legal developments and legislation on a range of topics.
- Project management of initiatives on an ad-hoc basis.
- Assisting with maintenance of team know-how databases and record keeping.
- Supporting the development of standard legal documents and templates.
- Undertaking due diligence.
- Other ad-hoc tasks.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- LLB (2:1 or higher) or GDL/SQE from Queen Mary University of Law.
- Advanced desktop computer skills - deep knowledge of Microsoft Office (imperative).
- Fluency to work in English.
- Relevant meaningful prior work experience as a paralegal within a multinational/Fortune 500 company or law firm is always welcomed, but not a requirement.
