We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our clients school nursery in East Leeds. As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children's learning and development in a nurturing and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities to promote the educational, social, and emotional development of children aged 2-5 years.
  • Provide targeted support for children with speech and language difficulties. Help with language development through structured activities, one-to-one interventions, and small group work.
  • Deliver 1:1 intervention to children with additional learning needs, ensuring that each child receives tailored support to reach their full potential.
  • Support children in developing social skills, independence, and self-regulation in a safe and supportive environment. Encourage positive behaviour and work collaboratively with the team to ensure the children's well-being.
  • Assist in setting up and tidying the classroom, ensuring resources are available and organised. Support children with self-care, such as toileting and handwashing.
  • Work alongside teachers and parents to ensure the child's progress is communicated and well-supported. Participate in parents' evenings, meetings, and collaborative planning.

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare Qualification (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience working with children in an early years setting, especially with children aged 2-5 years.
  • Knowledge of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework and its application in a school nursery setting.
  • Experience with speech and language development is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage small groups and provide 1:1 intervention in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A good understanding of the importance of inclusive education and supporting children with additional needs.

Desirable:

  • Experience in providing 1:1 interventions for children with additional learning needs or speech and language difficulties.
  • First Aid Qualification (training can be provided).
