Role Overview
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate a strong understanding of balance sheet/management accounting impacts. Highly organised and happy to provide leadership and guidance to their teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume full ownership and accountability for the on-going delivery of all aspects of the Accounts Payable and Cash Management functions.
- Working with Procurement to ensure that the P2P process is adhered to.
- Work with the Property Team, Landlords and their Agents to investigate and resolve account queries.
- Maximise the functionality of Hubble (reporting tool for ERP system) to ensure that best use is being made and work with other Finance departments to develop reports from Hubble.
- Deliver right-first-time transactional processing to ensure correct entries for financial reporting VAT and other taxes.
- Lead the development and execution of efficient, timely, reliable and cost-effective processes across all department areas.
- Ensure all processes are documented/up to date for each functional area.
- Direct all cash management activities ensuring cash is banked and reconciled accurately and working with other departments to ensure reconciling items are investigated and cleared.
- Support the production of timely and effective cashflow forecasting, regular review with Senior Finance personnel to agree on payments.
- Supervise the AP function ensuring the timely processing of invoices, accurate VAT coding and completion of period end stock journals.
- Working closely with the Indirect Tax Manager to ensure that processes and systems are updated with changing legislation or business change.
- Identify development needs for team and working with individuals to achieve personal objectives.
- Proactively investigate and resolve issues and queries.
- Support the Head of Transactional Services with various tasks and projects when required.
Knowledge and Experience
- A professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) is desirable, or demonstrable understanding of management account inputs and impacts, as well as balance sheet risks and controls.
- Extensive experience of managing an Accounts Payable/Transactional Services Team, ideally in a multi-site retail business with an online presence.
- Continuous improvement and a sound understanding of Finance systems and the interactions with other systems.
- Organised, good at multi-tasking and prioritising your work whilst retaining tight controls on BAU.
- Strong communication skills to effectively converse with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Enquiring mind that is used to solving the most complex problems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to react to high pressure scenarios.
- The ability to work as part of a team as well as individually with minimal supervision along with the ability to plan own time effectively.
- Experience demonstrating proficiency of MS Office Applications, with strong Excel skills.
- Oracle experience & Reporting Writing tool (JD Edwards & Hubble) preferable.
- Flexible approach, and able to quickly build an understanding of end to end processes.
