About the Company:
A leading independent property consultancy with a strong reputation in the commercial property sector is seeking an experienced Chartered MRICS Rating Surveyor. This firm advises an impressive client base including investors, developers, occupiers, and high-net-worth individuals across retail and office property portfolios.
The Role:
This is a key opportunity for a Chartered Rating Surveyor to take ownership of a diverse caseload, advising clients on all aspects of business rates. You’ll work closely with clients to reduce liabilities, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide clear, strategic rating advice.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct business rates assessments across office and retail properties
- Prepare and manage rating appeals on behalf of clients
- Liaise with the VOA and local authorities
- Advise on mitigation strategies, including empty rates relief and temporary occupation
- Build strong, long-term client relationships
- Monitor portfolios to identify rating opportunities
- Stay up to date with rating legislation and market changes
Requirements:
- MRICS qualified with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience
- Strong knowledge of UK business rates and appeals process
- Proven experience in commercial property ratings (retail and office focus)
