We are looking to recruit a Nitriding Technology Specialist to drive sustainable growth within Bodycote’s Nitriding Portfolio. The role will involve helping to shape strategy, identifying commercial opportunities, and providing expert technical support to local operations. Bodycote operates an international network of facilities serving a wide range of industries including aerospace, defence, automotive, power generation, oil & gas, construction, machine building, medical and transportation. Main responsibilities:
- ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY
- Follow company health & safety procedures and disciplines
- Follow and comply with all quality system requirements relevant to Job Description
- Follow and comply with company environmental procedures
- TECHNICAL
- Process Owner for Nitriding Operations
- Write & control the furnace recipes in line with customer product requirements
- Perform NPI / oversee Laboratory metallographic examination & associated testing outputs
- Developing / adapting nitriding process inline with metallurgical best practice, CI & Sustainability targets
- Provide Root Cause Analysis, Containment and Countermeasures on any quality Non Conformances related to process
- OPERATIONAL
- Work with Planning team to maximise efficiency and improve profitability through “coach loading” opportunities
- Establish and promote Best Practice with Operations Team through high level of Standardisation of tooling, programs, loading and offloading and inspection procedures
- COMMERCIAL
- Engage with clients, understand their requirements, and provide tailored solutions
- Articulate the value proposition of plasma and gas nitriding to potential customers
- Identify new business opportunities or market segments where Nitriding processes could be applied
- Competitions Analysis Market Analysis
- Analyse customer feedback, market trends, and sales data to inform business strategies
Qualifications, experience and skills:
- Educated to degree Level in Material Sciences or Metallurgy with specialisation in Nitriding and Nitrocarburising using Gas or Plasma methodologies (Essential)
- Industrial Experience in commercial and Aerospace Nitriding and Nitrocarburising with extensive knowledge of market applications and development of solutions for OEMs (Essential)
- Able to identify commercial opportunities to expand Nitriding portfolio (Optional)
- Project Management skills and stakeholder management essential
- Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all our functions to deliver customer expectations
- Excellent level of literacy and numeracy
- NADCAP HT, EN9100, TS16949, CQI9 awareness (Optional)
- Pyrometry process knowledge / awareness (Optional)
