Rate: £29 umbrella an hour (£22 PAYE an hour)

Croydon Council are looking for an Education Training and Employment Officer to join their 16+ Childrens Social Care Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing door to door intensive one-to-one support and outreach work by delivering practical hands-on education, training and employment information, advice and guidance help and support to post-16 young people who are open to the 16+ Team for Care Experienced Young People who are either NEET or at risk of becoming NEET.
  • Screening and assessing ETE goals and aspirations; gathering education history and reports from schools, colleges and training providers.
  • Offering suitable ETE opportunities, daily recording and evidencing of face-to-face contacts and interventions.
  • Preparing monthly and/or quarterly post-16 ETE reports.
  • Undertaking informal mentoring; working holistically with the young person, parents/carers and ETE providers.
  • Delivering workshops to young people; CV creation; interview readiness and effective job searching.

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of the NEET agenda and strategies for improving and sustaining engagement of young people.
  • Knowledge of local provision for 16-25 year olds.
  • Advanced qualification or comparable experience in the field of 16-25 education, training or careers advice.
  • Experience of working directly with young people in a frontline service, preferably within a careers advice or education/training/employment context.
  • Ability to travel between office site, home visits, community locations and education establishments.
