Senior of Principal Planning Consultant required to join a highly regarded independent consultancy with a reputation for delivering high quality planning solutions. In this role, you will lead the delivery of planning consents for a host of development proposals spanning wind, solar, battery storage, grid infrastructure, water, and property. This is a key appointment for our client and offers the opportunity for an ambitious candidate to rapidly progress to Director level while playing an integral role in the continued growth and development of the business.
Role
- Work closely with the Planning Director and support the delivery of planning consents for projects in the energy, infrastructure, and property sectors.
- Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams working on planning and/or EIA projects, discussing and resolving complex assessment issues and effectively managing project programmes.
- Support the delivery of feasibility studies, environmental reviews, and documentation for colleagues across the business.
- Provide competent and reliable advice on planning matters, ensuring work is undertaken diligently and meets any statutory requirements.
- Raise the profile of the business through attendance at events, website development, marketing and social media.
- Undertake business development through the preparation of tenders, consolidating relationships with existing clients and proactively seeking out new business opportunities with prospective clients in Scotland and the North of England.
Requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Town Planning, Geography).
- Membership of RTPI is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent knowledge of planning process including the current methods, legislation, techniques and guidance.
- Proven project management skills, including a detailed understanding of financial management, programme management and quality control.
- Demonstrable experience in the energy or renewables sectors is desirable but not essential.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and time, using initiative.
- Excellent business development skills and ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Eligible to drive in the UK.
