We are looking for a Costs Recovery Handler to work in our Costs team in Liverpool. You will be responsible for managing files once damages have been settled by identifying debt/payments and making various payments out to clients/medical agencies and third parties and also chasing monies owed. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with finance or legal knowledge to join a leading law firm.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Proactively chase TP insurers/Solicitors for agreed damages & costs
  • Negotiate disputed costs on Fast Track Fixed recoverable cost cases and litigate when required
  • Identify cheques and BACS payments received on a daily basis & ensure the relevant approval steps are run so payments can be banked and costs transferred
  • Arrange payments to clients & rehab providers
  • Liaise with fee earning colleagues in order to review debt; identify solutions and suggest strategies to improve cash collection
  • Answer client telephone calls, and provide information on procedures or policies relating to queries
  • Effectively manage own caseload
  • Ensure financial targets are met
  • Manage and support the development of team members, promoting continuous learning and improvement of skills as part of normal duties

Applications will be considered from strong candidates who do not have experience in every area above as we have a comprehensive training programme in place.

About You:

  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Excel functions such as spreadsheet creation; formatting and simple formula creation
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on, with a “can-do” attitude, demonstrating drive, discipline, patience and flexibility
  • Genuine enthusiasm for providing a high standard of client service and an ability to promote a positive attitude
