Hello, we’re Starling. We built a new kind of bank because we knew technology had the power to help people save, spend and manage their money in a new and transformative way. We’re a fully licensed UK bank with the culture and spirit of a fast-moving, disruptive tech company. We’re a bank, but better: fairer, easier to use and designed to demystify money for everyone. We employ more than 3,000 people across our London, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester offices.
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Photography to lead and elevate our visual identity, as part of our in-house creative studio. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the creative vision of a leading fintech brand.
Role Overview
As the Head of Photography, you’ll be responsible for defining and executing Starling’s photographic style, building consistency and quality across all channels — from editorial and social to advertising and product launches.
You’ll work closely with the Marcomms team, agency partners and freelancers and teams across the business to build a compelling and authentic visual world.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Leadership:
- Develop, articulate and execute Starling’s photographic strategy, to enhance visual storytelling and brand recognition, in alignment with the brand’s visual identity.

Production Management:
- Commission freelancers and collaborate with external agencies and creative partners.
- Contribute to BAU internal photography needs when required.
- Oversee end-to-end production of shoots with the Head of Production, including concept development, planning, and execution.
- Collaborate with external agencies and freelancers when needed.
Team Development:
- Provide creative guidance and feedback to wider teams both internal and external to ensure output meets brand standards and creative vision.
Brand Integration:
- Work closely with the marketing, design, and product teams to align photography with broader brand and campaign strategies.
- Ensure photography supports key business goals, including customer engagement and brand differentiation.
Asset Management:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of photographic assets.
- Oversee photo editing and post-production to ensure consistency in tone and style.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience as a senior photographer or head of photography, preferably within a high-growth or fast-paced brand environment.
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in brand-focused photography across digital and print.
- Exceptional creative vision with the ability to translate business objectives into impactful visual storytelling.
- Experience managing and leading creative teams, including photographers and production staff.
- Strong understanding of lighting, composition, and editing techniques.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset — able to work effectively with marketing, product, and design teams.
- Experience working with fintech or lifestyle brands is a plus.
Benefits:
- 25 days holiday (plus take your public holiday allowance whenever works best for you).
- An extra day’s holiday for your birthday.
- Annual leave is increased with length of service, and you can choose to buy or sell up to five extra days off.
- 16 hours paid volunteering time a year.
- Salary sacrifice, company enhanced pension scheme.
- Life insurance at 4x your salary.
- Private Medical Insurance with VitalityHealth including mental health support and cancer care. Partner benefits include discounts with Waitrose, Mr&Mrs Smith and Peloton.
