We are working with an award-winning housebuilder to strengthen their commercial team. Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their East Midlands head office in Nottingham.
The Role

Joining our team as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will currently be employed as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or a Graduate QS, working towards an Assistant role with a minimum of 12 months experience working within a Commercial department for a housebuilder or construction company.
Key duties and requirements
- Support in the management of build costs, cash flows and budget financial information.
- Ensuring policies are followed and reported fully on all development/build related expenditure adding value to the wider business and delivering the commercial objectives of the Region.
- Supporting in managing the working partnerships with third party providers and sub-contractors to ensure that all contractual terms are met and ensure that all orders are placed, managed, and settled.
- Assisting in the process of determining and agreeing site start programmes and timescales.
- Assisting in the production of comprehensive Commercial reports for inclusion in Land Appraisals.
- Supporting in the processing of payments and PFA production.
- Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the Regional business plan.
- Authorising and committing expenditure on the COINS system.
- Assisting in the production of key status reports and updates on all KPIs relating to the commercial function.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor who possesses excellent communication skills (to include relationship building), an individual who is keen to develop their skills and experience within the housebuilding industry. Reporting to the Commercial Director, the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate their understanding of Quantity Surveying along with a keen commercial awareness.
To be considered for this role you must also possess:
- Possess or working towards a relevant qualification within Quantity Surveying.
- Financial and commercial awareness.
- Knowledge of the Construction Industry.
- Knowledge of commercial and financial management systems and controls.
- Knowledge of COINS is desirable yet not essential.
