Are you an experienced Customs Compliance professional with a passion for international trade and the food ingredients sector? Your duties will be ensuring a smooth and compliant import and export operations across global markets. As the Customs Compliance Officer, you will be the primary point of contact for customs authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring the supply chain operates efficiently and in full compliance with UK and international trade regulations. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of markets and resources while staying ahead of industry trends, market access requirements, and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade Compliance: Ensure compliance with all customs regulations, trade rules, and free trade agreements for imports and exports.
  • Customs & Regulatory Liaison: Act as the main contact for HMRC, customs brokers, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Supply Chain Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, logistics, and warehouse teams to manage daily customs-related challenges.
  • Tariff Classification & Systems Management: Accurately classify products using HS codes, maintain data in the ERP system, and manage customs documentation.
  • Market Insights & Strategy: Stay updated on declaration of origin requirements, market access regulations, and global trade developments.
  • Internal Audits & Risk Management: Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards and identify areas for improvement.

What You’ll Need:

  • Strong knowledge of UK and international customs regulations, including import/export procedures.
  • Experience in the food ingredients, food manufacturing, or FMCG industry is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with HS codes, ERP systems, free trade agreements, and origin rules.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with great attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
