Provide strategic direction for the Engineering function (Maintenance, Capital Projects and Automation activities) at the Irvine site; to ensure these provide a clear added value service through the provision of technical expertise, problem solving, project management and implementation of Regulatory and EHS requirements.

Member of the Site Leadership Team carrying cabinet responsibility for all decisions made and is expected to contribute to aspects of site activity out with departmental or functional responsibilities., * Establish and maintain an effective Engineering Department at the Irvine site with the objective of resolution of short-, medium- and long-term engineering concerns to meet supply expectations.

Ensure effective interaction with Global Capital Projects, Engineering Centres of Excellence and GSK Supply Chain Engineering for the mutual benefit of site and GSK.

Deliver engineering solutions to solve Production/Capacity problems. Ensure that Capital projects are managed so that these are delivered both within budget and on time.

Delivery of the overall site Maintenance budget associated with maintenance and repair/ replacement for plant, machinery, buildings and site infrastructure

Through maintenance managers and team Leaders ensure maintenance resources and activities are co-ordinated across the site for optimum utilisation.

Develop engineering skills and competency within the department to ensure alignment with GES105 Technical Authority for Engineering Department standards.

Ensure through recruitment, motivation, training and development that staff of the appropriate calibre/competence are available to meet agreed current and future manpower requirements.

Maintain a high standard of industrial relations by full involvement in union/company site

negotiations and procedural agreements. Ensure continuous improvement using GPS standards is embedded using all staff.

Ensure that factory and statutory safety standards are maintained and reviewed in order to comply with current and future legislation and recommend changes where necessary.
