We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Garment Tech Manager to lead the technical development of our products, ensuring they meet the highest quality, fit, and compliance standards. In this role, you will oversee the fitting, grading, and construction of garments, working closely with design, buying, and production teams to bring our fashion-forward collections to life. Your expertise in fabric performance, pattern cutting, and garment construction will play a key role in ensuring our products align with brand expectations and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management & Ways of Working
- Day to day management of the garment tech team.
- Develop & coach the team, improving their skills & widening their knowledge of fabrications, construction methods and pattern cutting.
- Building upon processes which have been established, ensuring a productive and streamlined department.
- Fit & Product Development
- Manage the fit and technical development process from initial concept through to final production.
- Oversee and conduct fit sessions, providing clear technical direction to improve fit, construction, and overall quality.
- Work closely with designers and buyers to ensure designs are feasible from a technical and production standpoint.
- Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet the brandβs quality, performance, and ethical compliance standards.
- Implement robust quality control processes to minimise returns and customer complaints.
- Keep up to date with legal and ethical standards, ensuring all garments comply with industry regulations.
- Supplier & Production Coordination
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical challenges and maintain quality consistency.
- Provide clear and detailed technical packs, including measurements, construction details, and fabric specifications.
- Work with factories on pattern corrections and grading to ensure size consistency across all ranges.
- Process Improvement & Innovation
- Continuously review and improve the garment development process to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Research new materials, production techniques, and garment technologies to enhance product offerings.
- Support the implementation of sustainable and ethical manufacturing practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- A wealth of experience in garment technology, with evidence of being in a managerial role for a period of time in that experience.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, and fabrics across multiple categories.
- Experience in activewear essential.
- Experience working closely with suppliers, factories, and overseas production teams.
- Proficiency in using pattern-cutting software and technical design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CLO 3D).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
