About the Company - Carbon60 are proud to be partnering with Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services to recruit for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager within the Training and Quality department. Lufthansa Technik are a global leading provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the civil aviation industry. This EHS Manager position is on a permanent basis and has become available due to continued growth and expansion.
About the Role - In this role, you will be required to manage, develop and support the Health & Safety function of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) for Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services. Role Responsibilities will include:
- Implement and maintain standards ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) standards, within the LHT Group approval using the LHT integrated Management System Pro X.
- Develop & perform internal audit schedule of the EHS management system to assess conformity with ISO standards and other regulation as determined, identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) regulations with the responsibility of ensuring the COMAH Safety Report is compiled and submitted to the HSE.
- Ensure compliance with further regulations and engage with the required agencies for example, Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Environment Agency – This list is not exhaustive.
- Provide guidance and support to business as Subject Matter Experts on EHS subject, including risk assessment, training and project consultation.
- Ensure the Integrated Management System procedures for EHS are monitored and maintained.
- Act as the contact point with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders during inspections, audits, and inquiries.
- Investigate EHS incidents, accidents, and non-conformances, and ensure suitable CA/PA action is implemented.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) related to EHS performance, to match the requirements of the business.
- Ensure the employee EHS committee is functioning, where required facilitating discussions, and advising representatives from different departments and job functions.
- Encourage employee engagement and participation in EHS activities, initiatives, and programs, recognising contributions to a positive safety culture.
- Participate in the LHT EHS community, including attending EHS Summits and working groups to develop group procedures and global EHS objectives and initiatives.
- Be the conduit for LHT EHS leadership to LTLGS management.
Qualifications - Education details Required Skills IOSH (CMIOSH) Chartered status preferred, however would consider (CertIOSH) Certified Status with relevant experience. Recognised Auditing qualification in 14001 or 45001 preferred.
Preferred Skills Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems in a complex, regulated environment, preferably within the aviation MRO industry. Knowledge of COMAH regulations and experience in developing and implementing safety management systems for sites handling hazardous substances and processes, including preparation of safety reports and liaison with Competent Authorities. Familiarity with other EHS requirements required for a COMAH site. Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate EHS initiatives, manage resources, and achieve objectives within established timelines and budgets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including senior management, regulatory agencies, and industry partners.
