Location: The Law Courts, Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 3LA

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37 hours per week)

Pay: £12.21 per hour (paid weekly)

Contract: Immediate start - temporary until 31/12/2025, with the possibility of extension

Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check.

About the Role:

Brook Street is currently recruiting on behalf of a large public sector organisation within the Legal Sector. We are seeking a reliable and professional Court Usher to support the operations at Newcastle Crown Court. As a Court Usher, you will play a key role in ensuring that court proceedings run smoothly and efficiently. This position offers a valuable opportunity to work in a high-profile, fast-paced environment within the justice system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting court clerks and accurately preparing court log reports
  • Escorting and supervising vulnerable adults and children attending hearings
  • Taking initiative to complete post-hearing tasks without direct instruction
  • Liaising with legal advisors, judiciary, and members of the public
  • Updating internal systems and maintaining accurate records
  • Performing general administrative duties as required
