Location: Rotherham

Contract Length: 6 months

Hourly Rate: £32–£33 p/h DOE

Shifts: Thursday and Friday – Days (20 hours p/w)

We are seeking Shutdown Engineers (Mechanical Bias) to join a leading engineering company for a critical project in Rotherham. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of key mechanical systems during scheduled shutdowns.

Mechanical Bias Shutdown Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a shutdown maintenance plan for mechanical systems, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis on mechanical equipment.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs, replacements, and upgrades to improve operational reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of mechanical work carried out, parts used, and issues identified.
  • Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns during shutdown periods.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including bearings, shafts, and rotating equipment.
  • Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, especially under time pressure.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
