An enterprising Junior IT Security Administrator is urgently required by my client with significant experience of monitoring IT security health and dealing with security threats. Strong knowledge of general Microsoft security, along with industry recognised security compliance (ISO, PCI-DSS, Cyber Essentials etc) will be needed. This role would suit a previous IT Infrastructure Engineer, who over the past year or two has moved into focusing on IT Security.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Security Administrator with all levels of IT Security monitoring, Security hardening and generally helping to improve the IT Security environment for my client.
  • Daily log checking, and managing all security software/systems, including cryptography, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus software.
  • Assist with implementing and upholding all manner of IT and Information security principles, including PCI-DSS, CSI v8 and Cyber Essentials Plus.
  • Monitor Server logs, Firewall logs, Intrusion detection logs and network traffic, identifying, and acting on any potential threats.
  • Research emerging IT Security technology and suggest suitable upgrades/implementation.

Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years experience of working within a hands-on/technical IT security focused role.
  • Experience of working with relevant IT security systems/software pertaining to ensuring Microsoft environments are secure.
  • Experience with Mimecast, Barracuda and Sophos would be beneficial, but not expected.
  • A strong IT Infrastructure and/or Networking background.
  • A broad understanding of Information security and associated compliance.

This is a Junior role, and as such, there will be flexibility on the level of experience the successful candidate will have, and will be a role that will offer an excellent opportunity to learn from an experienced IT security professional.
