What You'll Do:

  • Be the first point of contact for emergency 999 and non-emergency calls, providing professional and customer-focused support.
  • Assess, prioritise, and triage calls based on urgency and available resources.
  • Work with colleagues across North Yorkshire to coordinate police responses efficiently.
  • Create accurate records of reported incidents in real-time, supporting effective deployment of officers.
  • Facilitate communication with callers who speak little or no English, ensuring accessibility for all communities.
  • Use police systems to record information related to crimes, domestic violence, road traffic collisions, and missing persons.
  • Conduct Police National Computer enquiries, such as vehicle and name checks, to assist officers.
  • Handle online reporting and provide guidance to members of the public.

Key Requirements:

  • No previous experience is necessary; we are looking for individuals with common sense, strong IT and typing skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Willingness to work a 24/7 shift pattern of 12-hour shifts on a 4 on, 4 off rotations.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.

Training & Start Dates:

You will complete 10 weeks of training. Due to the comprehensive nature of the training, holidays cannot be taken during this period. Start date will be 29th September 2025.
