As a Location Planner with Asda, you will be integral to our significant growth plans and be at the forefront of our ambition to accelerate the growth of our convenience chain whilst optimising the performance of our current estate. You will support the Property team to ensure we are making the right investment decisions for new sites and stores across the UK. By recommending where to open stores and analysing catchment data to make informed recommendations, you will play a key part in our ambitious growth plans.
We operate in a dynamic, competitive market and we’re looking for an individual who can develop a clear picture of how physical space growth will shape the market. The Property function at ASDA is responsible for delivering a wide range of initiatives to support the existing performance and future growth of the business. The Location Planning team sit within the function and are responsible for driving ASDA's market strategy, ensuring we have the right portfolio of stores & formats, in the right markets, for now, and the future.
This role will help us find great new location opportunities through providing insight on potential sites to help us grow our estate:
- Market analysis to provide Network Plan recommendations for New Space growth across the UK
- Work with wider Property function to deliver sales forecasts and supporting information for individual Board submissions
- Store analysis on existing stores to provide Estate Optimisation recommendations
- Cross-functional working to ensure strategy alignment & evolution
- Monitor competitor activity & impact forecasting
- Work closely with the Location Planning Managers providing support where required
A full UK driving licence will be required. Strong communication skills, ability to engage and influence key stakeholders, logical problem solving – turning complex data into insight & robust recommendations, excellent team working skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, experience of using GIS Systems, and knowledge of the UK food retail market desirable but not essential.
To ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum of 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices. Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.
