The Opportunity: They are currently growing their operations in Northern Ireland and seeking a Freight Forwarder / Operations Manager to lead and expand the Derry-based team. This is a critical hands-on leadership role where you will manage daily freight forwarding operations while building strong client relationships, leading a small team, and driving commercial success across the UK, Irish, and international logistics markets.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations for freight forwarding (road, sea, air) with a focus on efficient, on-time, cost-effective service delivery.
- Manage and grow client accounts, ensuring exceptional service and operational excellence.
- Coordinate international shipments, customs clearance, carrier bookings, and documentation.
- Negotiate rates with suppliers and carriers; ensure competitive pricing while protecting margins.
- Develop and monitor KPIs for operational performance, client satisfaction, and cost efficiency.
- Lead and motivate a small team of logistics professionals; provide coaching, performance feedback, and development.
- Identify process improvements and technology solutions to streamline workflow and enhance customer service.
- Act as the go-to problem solver for escalated issues across freight, customs, delivery, or compliance.
- Collaborate with global offices on international logistics projects and multimodal freight solutions.
- Stay current with logistics regulations, customs changes, and freight market developments.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics coordination, or supply chain operations.
- Proven leadership experience in an operational or client-facing logistics role.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping, incoterms, customs procedures, and documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, “yes we can” attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with logistics software and Microsoft Office; knowledge of CargoWise, SAP, or similar is a plus.
