Job Title: Rental Income Support Officer
Location: Barking
Hourly Rate: 27.50 per hour
Duration: 6 months, with view for further extension thereafter
We are currently recruiting for a Rental Income Support Officer on behalf of our public sector client based in East London.
The role will operate in a commercial environment to ensure that alongside maximising income, brilliant customer care is provided with the outcomes including contributing to increasing tenant satisfaction and sustaining tenancies
- Manage the rent accounts for a patch of tenancies where the tenure types are Assured Shorthold Tenancies
- Take responsibility for maximising circa 8.5m of payments of rent, alongside maximising tenancy sustainment
- Manage approximately 700 rent accounts, plus parking bay licence accounts
- Visit residents in their homes and complete follow up actions where issues are identified such as repairs and make referrals to other teams to maximise resident satisfaction
- Work alongside other teams such as Neighbourhood Officers and external organisations such as Advice Agencies, debt advice agencies, credit unions, etc
- Making phone calls, and with the homes being the area local to the office, much of the contact is through home visits hence staff work the majority of the week from the office
- Make and monitor agreements with residents to repay rent arrears
- Maximise take up of Universal Credit
- Provide early intervention to maximise income and resident satisfaction for residents moving from legacy benefits to Universal Credit
Qualifications and experience:
- A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of housing, Welfare Reforms and legislation for Assured Shorthold Tenancies and Shared Owners
- Experience of income management in a private tented sector/social housing environment
- A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of welfare benefits policy and legislation
- Experience of making sustainable arrangements for residents to repay rent arrears
