We are recruiting for a Senior Business Development Executive to join the Global Client Development (GCD) team, which forms part of the wider Commercial department, based at the firm’s head office in London. The GCD team works closely with partners and other fee earners to win work and grow client relationships on a global basis. Taking an integrated approach to client development, the team brings together regional, practice and sector-based expertise to maintain, grow and support client relationships and law firm (strategic partner) relationships. This role will be supporting our BD efforts for the corporate practice, which encompasses 33 London partners. The corporate BD team supports the fee earners on all business development activities including client relationship management, client targeting, pitching, the production of credentials documents and client events. The successful candidate will report into the BD manager in corporate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Opportunity identification and Client Relationship Management
- Provide support for (and manage selected) day-to-day targeting initiatives for the corporate BD team
- Support the Corporate team with identifying and pursuing client development and targeting opportunities, including maintaining targeting intelligence, researching clients/markets for opportunities, pitching ideas to fee earners and checking that actions are followed up on
- Assist with the running of the Client Relationship Management Programme by collating internal client financials and identifying trends and opportunities (for example, cross sell opportunities)
- Support the team on client, market, industry and competitor-focussed research, summarising findings and articulating the ‘call to action’ for fee earners
- Practice support and development
- Provide independent BD support for the Equity Capital Markets practice, including the production of client and targeting lists, identifying opportunities, managing the production of content (working with fee earners and PSLs), providing BD event support and leading internal meetings with fee earners
- Provide pitch support for corporate and ECM opportunities, from opportunity assessment through to submission and follow-up actions
- Maintain and update the suite of corporate marketing documents, including pitch materials, credentials, targeting lists and alumni lists
- Update and maintain our public corporate client lists, liaising with external intelligence providers regarding credits and producing summary reports for the corporate team
- Lead on directory and awards submissions for the corporate team
- Supporting with preparing materials for business development trips undertaken by corporate country partners/associates
- Manage the department’s CRM lists, using the firm’s CRM tool — Microsoft Dynamics
- Collate and submit regular deal reports and liaise with external deal accreditors on ad-hoc requests
- Campaigns and content
- Supporting the delivery and promotion of content and marketing campaigns through internal and external channels, including measuring and reporting on ROI
- Provide commercial BD support on flagship and practice-led client events, including management of client and targeting lists and capturing ROI
- Assist with developing internal communications that support the corporate practice, including internal events, training, announcements and campaigns
- Maintain and update corporate website pages to ensure content is compelling, up to date and consistent with the corporate strategy
- Collaborating with the wider BD department, such as Research and Insight, Communications, Digital and Design teams to execute marketing campaigns.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Degree-educated or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, confidence to develop strong working relationships with fee earners and members of the BD team.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables independently within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work.
- At least two years’ BD and Marketing experience, most recently at Executive level, in legal or professional services.
- Ability to manage and analyse large amounts of data and identify commercial BD opportunities within it.
- Ability to be proactive, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, spoken and presentational).
- Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar.
- Proactive approach to defining needs and delivering solutions.
- Ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external clients and the resilience to deal with demanding individuals.
