We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and supporting the HR department. This position requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in payroll software systems. Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping * Input supplier invoices accurately and in a timely mannerinto the accounting system.• Import and reconcile sales invoices to ensure alignment with financial records.• Manage supplier and customer queries, providing timely and professional responses.• Post and record client expenses accurately. • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, debtor and creditor accounts, company credit cards, invoice finance accounts and other control accounts.• Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and provide supporting documentation. Payroll Support * Independently process end-to-end weekly and monthly payrolls for clients, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations. • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.• Calculate and process deductions, pensions, benefits, and statutory payments. • Manage all aspects of pension schemes, including re-enrolment and declarations of compliance.• Review payroll changes on a weekly/monthly basis and ensure reports are accurate. Person Specification Qualifications * AAT qualification or relevant bookkeeping/payroll certification (preferred but not essential). (e.g., CIPP, ICB). Experience * Demonstrable experience in bookkeeping and payroll, preferably in an accountancy practice.• Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Xero, Sage, Paycircle).• Knowledge of UK payroll regulations, VAT processes, and general accounting principles. Working Hours Office opening hours 8:30 – 5pm Monday to Friday (part-time agreements tbd) Due to the location of the office must have own transport.
