Summary and purpose of position:
Wincanton is a leading British supply chain solutions company. Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily running of the Transport operation by completing all administrative and legislative tasks required to maintain performance of the operation.
- To liaise with other departments to ensure all delayed departures and/or deliveries are clearly communicated to the relevant area.
- Ensure operational security requirements are adhered to, including vehicle keys, phones, fuel cards.
- Collation and input of statistical information for various reports.
- Engage directly with customers to provide delivery updates, resolve queries, or provide pre-delivery information as required.
- Management of tachograph records.
- Promote good driver behaviors using tools including telematics.
- Assist with investigations within a timely manner.
- Assist with managing vehicle defects through the VOR process.
- Participate in recruitment, training, and coaching of colleagues.
- Manage sickness absence processes, including record keeping and RTW interviews.
- Support the site with ad hoc administrative tasks.
- Work Monday to Friday with rotating early/late shifts, excluding weekends and bank holidays, with additional hours/shifts as necessary.
Person specification:
- Attention to detail and accuracy of information.
- Experience in a transport or busy operational environment is desirable.
- Good communication skills at all levels.
- Well organized with ability to prioritize tasks.
- Understanding of drivers\β working time directive and EU regulations.
- Positive, flexible attitude, reliable, punctual.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines independently.
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of distribution/transport systems is advantageous.
