One of the world's leading international banks, headquartered in London, is seeking to hire a Legal Counsel (VP) in its employment legal function.

The role will advise on the following:

  • Providing legal advice and support to the HR department and the businesses on the full range of employment matters. This will involve non-contentious advisory on policy issues, change programmes, compensation and benefits, and pensions matters.
  • Advising on contentious issues involving investigations and disputes and senior executive exits.
  • Creation and review of legal documents such as employee contracts and policies, severance agreements, incentive plans, and pension documentation.
  • Developing and delivering training programmes on applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

This role would suit a lawyer from private practice seeking a move in-house or someone who already has experience in-house within the financial services sector.

You should have:

  • At least 3 years' (or more) PQE from a law firm that advises on employment matters for financial services clients OR experience from within an in-house employment team in a financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of the SMCR would be advantageous.
  • Direct experience of employment agreements, advisory matters, and experience in dealing with contentious employment matters and disputes.
  • An ability to operate in a wider in-house team, working with a broad range of staff from across the bank and giving pragmatic and commercial advice in a regulated setting.
