Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their Inverness office on a full time basis. We are looking for an individual with strong practical experience to take ownership of the day-to-day finances of the business. This is a varied, hands-on role, covering bookkeeping duties to monthly reporting and cashflow forecasting. You will work closely with the Director and external Accountants to help keep the business financially sound and ready for growth.

Duties include:

  • Manage all day-to-day financial transactions.
  • Sales and purchase ledger.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Payroll preparation and pension submissions.
  • Invoicing and credit control.
  • Prepare monthly financial summaries and cashflow forecasts.
  • Submit VAT returns and liaise with HMRC.
  • Support annual accounts preparation and liaise with Accountants.
  • Maintain and improve financial systems (Xero).
  • Help manage budgets and track project costs.
  • Provide finance input for funding, grants and business planning.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in a finance or accounts role (minimum 4-5 years preferred).
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks.
  • Familiar with Xero or similar accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
  • Positive, proactive attitude.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a small business or start-up environment.
  • Knowledge of renewables, engineering, or technical industries.
  • Experience with payroll.
